Week #5 Discussions: Logical Fallacies

  1. A “working” definition of the fallacy that is easily understood. You may base it on the book definition and may also research it on the Internet. Make sure your definition is clear and easy to understand.

  2. An original example of your fallacy. This is where you get to create a fallacy that you will be able to explicate for your classmates.

  3. Advice on how to identify your fallacy. For the quiz, you will be given a group of fallacies and will need to identify them.  Tell your classmates the best way to identify the one you have been assigned.  (Red Herring)

My definition of red herring is a diversion tactic where the real issue is not given importance or significance but instead, put emphasis on a surface-level issue relevant to it.
