Concise business emails are essential. My CEO once told me, “If I cannot read your email within 5 seconds and on one screen of my Blackberry, it is too long. I will not read it.” Do you know how small Blackberry screens are? Just FYI, the majority of businesses still favor BBs over other smartphones.
This made me adjust my way of writing. I became very effective at short emails. I found to be most effective I would list the 3-5 main points, with only 2-3 words per point. All of my emails now look like that- short, to the point, no filler.
