Beginning: Genesis and Science – Group Three
Dear students,
This is a collaborative learning activity. You will grow your learning together! Please read carefully, and do this assignment when you have time to “dig in.”
Answer Two Questions Thoroughly
Please respond to at least two of these five questions. Each response (answer to a question) should be 2-4 sentences. As these are like mini-mini essays, please also provide evidence or an example to back up your ideas (or to explain what your ideas are based on) from the article In the Beginning: Genesis and Science for each answer you present.
- What would you judge to be the strengths of Blair’s article? Where can these be seen in the text?
- What would you judge to be the weaknesses of Blair’s article? Where can these be seen in the text?
- What can you infer to be Eric Blair’s purpose in writing the article In the Beginning: Genesis and Science? How/where do you see that his purpose revealed by the article?
- How credible do you believe the facts and opinions expressed in the article are? How might you come to a decision about the credibility of Blair’s article?
- How would you describe Blair’s tone in the article? Where and how is his tone revealed to you? To what extent does the author’s tone influence your opinion about the credibility of what he has to say?
Answer Two Questions Thoughtfully
Please respond to both of these questions.
- What is the effect of the article on you? What do you think about Blair’s ideas and the way that he expresses them?
- What is one central question that remains for you, for which you would like the thoughtful insight of your fellow students?
Post Your Answers
Now that you have spent some time carefully considering the article, and answering the questions above, it is time to post your response, and engage in dialogue with your small collaborative learning group!
Please note, for this discussion, you will need to post your own responses before you can see the responses of others.
Part Three: Responding
- For your response, find three peers in your group, whose questions you would like to try to answer.
- Respond to those three peers within 24 hours after the posting due date. Initial posts and responses are always welcome early. You may turn them in any time after the Module opens, and you have completed 100% of the work.
- After you attempt to answer their questions, and others have answered yours, return to the board, and engage in further dialogue with the students who have answered your question, and with students whose questions you have answered. Please do this within 48 hours of the posting deadline.
