It is not uncommon for people to talk using emojis nowadays. Words have been replaced by images that may or may not facilitate understanding. In the article of Eyder Peralta, the use of emojis in communication seems to do more harm than good. She cited the findings of a study which found that people have varying interpretation of emojis as either positive or negative and the confusion is furthered when emojis are used across different platforms.
