Note that this video is not fully captioned, but you do not need to process the content. You just need comment on the nonverbals. The point of this assignment if for you to critically examine the speaker’s nonverbals so you will gain a deeper understanding of public speaking basics. The nonverbal lens you are using to critique the speaker will be the same I will be using when I critique your speeches.
- Nonverbally, what is the speaker doing well?
- What does the speaker need to improve on?
- Among other things, you may comment on professional appearance, eye contact, paralanguage and body movement.
You will not be able to see any peer responses until you post your comment. You will need to respond to at least three of your peers.
- Your initial response should be 100-200 words in length, reflecting on the prompt above.
- Reply to at least three classmates’ posts. Your response to your classmate’s discussion should be around 50 words (each) and add to the discussion (i.e. reflecting on their response, asking questions, etc.). Be thoughtful and engaging in the responses you compose to your peers. How you respond to your peers will begin to demonstrate your careful and critical thinking skills.
You will not be able to see any peer responses until you post first.
