Chapter 11 Small Assignment

Option 1

For some people, deep love is an absolute prerequisite for sex. For some people, good sex is an absolute prerequisite for love. For some people, sex is sex, love is love, and never the two shall meet. To investigate this concept further, collect data from at least 20 people (0.5 points).  Have your participants (anonymously) write down A) their gender (male or female); B) at least five characteristics a partner must have before they would consider having sex with her or him; and C) at least five characteristics a partner must have before they would be able to fall in love with him or her. [This should be done as an online study using google forms].  Collect the completed answers and then analyze them by looking for points of overlap, points of divergence, and gender similarities and differences in the lists for love and the lists for sex.  Write a short report in which you describe your data collection (0.5 points), results (0.5 points), and personal reflections on the findings (0.5 points).  Be sure to submit your raw data (i.e., the google forms spreadsheet you downloaded) (0.5 points) (0.5 points will be given for proper formatting and academic writing, including page length and proper grammar).

Option 2

Attend the “Communication & Conflict Resolution” Friends Helping Friends workshop on Thursday, May 6^th from 5pm to 6pm via zoom (https://uci.zoom.us/j/4712476042 (Links to an external site.)).  After attending this event, and write an essay in which you briefly summarize what you learned/experience at the event (0.75 points) and in which you share your own reflections (thoughts, comments, and questions) related to this event.  In your reflection, include a discussion of how information from this workshop was related to concepts from Chapter 11 (0.75 points).  In this assignment, there should be more reflection than summary (0.75 points).  (0.75 points will be given for proper formatting and academic writing, including page length and proper grammar).
