Discussion: Week 8

After reading From Duty and In Accordance with Duty in this week module, you learned that Kant favors the person who is cold and indifferent but who dutifully performs an act of kindness instead of the person who is naturally sympathetic and who spontaneously and joyfully spreads happiness. Do you think he is right in doing so? Explain why you agree or disagree with Kant by following Directions and Discussion Guidelines.

Discussion: Week 8 Answer

Kantian ethics define that our moral duties are more relevant and therefore, should be acknowledged more. The intention to do good is better than the consequences of the action and thus makes it ethically justifiable.  The dutiful performance of one’s moral obligation, such as kindness is the right thing to do if we would follow his ethical perspective. What is ought to do is the basis of one’s moral duty, and I believe in Kant somehow in this position
