Your musical experience!
This is an “Icebreaker” Activity where we will get to know each other and learn about the importance of music in our lives. Completing this activity will also help us learn about different instruments and what instruments people are familiar with.
For this activity you will make one initial post by Friday, January 14 at 11:59 pm. In this post:
1) Share any musical instrument(s) you are able to play. If you do not play any musical instruments at this point in your life, please share what instrument you most want to be able to play. (Remember, the singing voice is an instrument!)
2) Write at least one paragraph describing your most moving music experience. It can be as an audience member, as a performer, or even as a listener while you were doing some other activity.
When you have composed your answer, please post it into the discussion forum so others can see it.
- Click the “Reply” button at the top of the introduction thread below. The Initial Post is due by Friday, January 14 at 11:59pm.
- If you need to edit post for some reason, locate your post in the discussion thread and click on the three dots (upper right-hand corner of your post). You will see the Edit button. Select Edit, modify your post and click Save.
Peer Replies: Due Monday, January 17 at 11:59pm
- Locate at least two other student posts you would like to reply to.
- Please try to select posts that do not have any replies, so we don’t have 10 replies for one post and none for another.
In each reply, do the following:
- Ask two follow-up questions about someone’s musical experience or their musical instrument.
- The follow-up questions should be supportive of other student’s experiences and should not be yes/no questions.
Final Post: Due Friday, January 21 at 11:59pm
- Students must respond to at least one reply to their original post (feel free to respond to more).
From a young age I wanted to learn how to play guitar. I even signed up myself to a guitar class without telling my parents. However, due to different situations I was not able to go and learn. Eventually one of my dreams came true and, several years later, I learned how to play guitar.
