To address the diverse STEM disciplines we have in this class , let’s try to watch some researched-based videos about learning how to learn. I want you to learn some transferable skills that can apply to your other classes or future career in addition to learning chemistry.

- You will report on something good that happened to you, or an accomplishment of yours from the last 5-7 days. It doesn’t have to be chemistry or science or even school-related. Please keep it appropriate!
- How do the high performers differ from low performers in order to enhance activity in the brain? What’s productive failure?
- What type of memory system does multiple choice questions test for? What about open-ended questions?
- What are some examples of passive review? What are some examples of active recall?
- Reflecting how you studied for exams in the past, were you doing more passive review or active recall?
- After watching these two videos, did your perception about ALEKS change? How are you going to embrace productive failure and active recall when you engage the course content with ALEKS? Remember: your homework grade is based on whether you can demonstrate to me and ALEKS that you learn the materials before due date. It was not graded on whether you answered a single question correctly or not within a fixed number of attempts.
