The University of Kentucky was in search of a director of its new astronomic observatory. Martin Gaskell, a man of excellent educational background and experience, applied for the post and he effortlessly surpassed the other candidates by landing as the first on the list. But upon further investigation, the Search Committee found that Gaskell’s religious beliefs seemingly interfere with his scientific stance and opinions. Because of this, the University of Kentucky dropped Martin’s application and placed someone whose credentials are virtually inferior to that of Martin. Gaskell sued the University of Kentucky in violation of the Title VII of the Civil Rights.
