You also should have completed reading the book and will need it to answer some of the questions.
Prepare substantive responses to each of the following questions. Please respond to each question in a bulleted format:

 How has the film shaped your ideas about the therapeutic treatment of cases involving sexual abuse and/or trauma? How do the ideas presented in the text confirm/challenge societal views of sexual abuse and/or trauma? What is your understanding of sexual abuse and/or trauma, what are your personal experiences that shape your ideas?
 Describe how you would work with Bone if she came to see you in a clinical setting at the age of 17.

 What did you see as the major difference between Bastard out of Carolina (book) and Bastard out of Carolina (film). Would any of these differences change how you might approach working with Bone as a client?
 On the bottom of page 45 through the end of page 47, what did you read and how did you feel when reading the material. As a therapist what types of issues might a client deal with after an experience such as what was depicted in these pages?
 On pages 104-116 what did you noticed about the main character? What types of issues might the main character be dealing with. How might you work with a client experiencing similar things?
 How would you work with Bone’s step-father (Glen) if he came to see you as an individual client, and he was the person seeking treatment? What types of questions would you ask? Would you feel comfortable working with him? If not, what would you do to address your discomfort?
