Ensuring the Right Candidate
The problem that will be discussed is how to ensure that you pick the right candidate for a job. This is important because as an human resource representative, you must ensure that most of the qualifications are met without prejudice. Companies have various minimum academic qualifications based on position. Debate can be discussed whether professional qualities outweigh fitting personalities. The purpose of the study is to know how to properly navigate through challenges and still result in the right candidate. There are top three key points that should be by every hiring company. Orjuela stated “if the situation was the other way around, would I be willing to work for this person?’ If your answer is yes, then they would probably make a good employee” (Morgaine, 2017). Understand how the candidate’s aspiration fits with the job and Vet them appropriately. The initial interaction with a potential employee is the interview, lately most interviews happen virtually which has its pros and cons. The role of technology has also contributed to the hiring process but in person interaction might be more beneficial to employers. Effective interview questions are a critical in employee selection process. “If done effectively, the interview enables the employer to determine if an applicant’s skills, experience and personality meet the job’s requirements. It also helps the employer assess whether an applicant would likely fit in with the corporate culture” (Interviewing.., 2020). Examples of interview questions can include, Give me an example of a time when you had set a goal for yourself and tell me how you went about accomplishing it or n what kind of a work environment do you do your best work? With these questions, the interviewer can somewhat extinguish the type of personality and characteristic the potential employee might have which will indicate if they are suitable for the job. When deciding on finalizing employment status, HR should always consider equal employment opportunities are met. HR department should also be aware of ethical and legal issues during the hiring process. Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) laws prohibit specific types of job discrimination in certain workplaces. The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) has two agencies which deal with EEO monitoring and enforcement, the Civil Rights Center and the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (Equal.., nd).

Organizations should find the right person through their specially designed recruitment process. Recruitment is the process of finding and hiring the best and most qualified candidate for a particular position in an organization (Acikgoz, 2019). Thus, the recruitment process is one of the human resource department’s most critical roles and responsibilities.
