The presence of bacteria and viruses endangers human health. These bacteria and viruses can cause Upper Respiratory Infections (URIs). If patients have these URIs, they cough mucus and sneeze droplets of saliva that contain pathogens. These pathogens do spray into the thin air. As a consequence, people, who breathe the droplets in, can get those pathogens (Zhang, Yeh, Jin, Ding, Liu, Zhang, & Dannelly, 2018). In some way, patients are at risk of respiratory infections if they continue to smoke, have poor hygiene, and stay in crowded places and populations. As well, they are at risk of URIs if they have poor medical conditions and disabilities. Aside from that, old people tend to acquire URIs because of age and poor immune systems (Broniatowski, Klein, May, Martinez, Ware, & Reyna, 2018). Moreover, patients can spot upper respiratory infections based on the following symptoms, such as cough, runny nose, and sore throat. To treat patients with URIs, nurses can instruct them to take rest and provide them with more fluids and over-the-counter pain relievers because these infections will normally go away.
