Instructions

Wite an essay about stress.

Excerpt

Stress may cause illness because of the physiological impact, health behaviors induced, as well as psychosocial aftermath of it. From a physiological viewpoint, there are direct observable effects. For instance, a person who is stressed may experience higher levels of blood pressure and even poorer immune responses. This makes them vulnerable to illnesses. Furthermore, stress also causes people to develop health-compromising behaviors. It is possible that a stressed person may turn to smoking, excessive drinking and use of drugs, and neglect other things such as sleep and nutrition. These are all contributing factors to illnesses as they increase someone’s risk. Lastly, stress can also drive people to evade supportive relationships; it may induce feelings of loneliness and isolation. When people are driven to these behaviors, they may have insufficient resources to deal with the aforementioned consequences of stress. This causes psychological strain that can impede someone’s capacity to cope with the risks of illness.
