Question

Final Project Reflection Paper

Your paper should be broken down into five parts and 4-5 pages.

  1. A cover page—Includes paper title, your name, course name, term.
  2. Introduction—Identify the problem that current sexual education books are not addressing. Be sure to include a thesis statement.
  3. Theory—Include a discussion of sexuality as a social construction using a theory from this course. Be specific. You may have to do additional research in order to learn more about the theory and how it applies to sexuality and sex education.
    • Your theoretical section must address the following:
      • How does the categorizing or pathologizing of sexuality contribute to our understanding of sexuality and ourselves as sexual beings today?
      • How does this theory help us understand how sexuality is learned and understood today? On an individual/interactional level? At an institutional level (e.g. in schools, health care system, political arena, religious institutions, etc.)
      • You must be thoroughand complete in your answer. This means you must cite the sources used as support for your argument. Use key terms and conceptswhere applicable. When using a key term, make sure you define it to the best of your ability. Show me you know what you are talking about and can explain these concepts.
  1. Additional Body Paragraphs—Tie everything together!
    • Briefly describe the premise and storyline of your book. Why did you choose this specific age group? How does your book address issues of sexuality that are vital to children of your particular age group?
    • How does your book tackle the concept of gender and sexuality as a social construction?
    • How does your book supplement what we learn about sexuality on an individual and institutional level? How is your book beneficial to the educational system and families?
  2. Conclusion—What might be the future of sexual education/sexual health in public schools? How can we encourage greater educational awareness?
