CH 6 Discussion: 5 seconds, one smart phone screen

Question

Concise business emails are essential.  A CEO once said, “If I cannot read your email within 5 seconds … it is too long.  I will not read it.”  Do you know how small our phone screens are?

This made me adjust my way of writing.  I became very effective at short emails.  I found to be most effective I would list the 3-5 main points, with only 2-3 words per point.  All of my emails now look like that- short, to the point, no filler.

This is what your executives and colleagues look for when reading emails on their devices. Effective emails will get you ahead in business.  Master the short, effective email and you will soar in your careers and life.
