Teacher as Stage Manager

Question

Using any materials you find around the house, please set up an experience for children using the figure/ground relationship as discussed in chapter 2, Teacher as Stage Manager. Please take a photo of it and post it here. (You can upload the photo right in your reply – let me know if you have questions about this.) You can use any material – please be mindful of the materials that you’ve been seeing in the GCC lab school and in the research you’ve done on different programs.

Look at the photos that your classmates post  – ask questions about their materials or what they think children might do with the experience.

You don’t need brightly colored toys to set the stage for an inviting play opportunity or exploration. Be creative and if the air is clear enough, step outside to gather some materials.

Here is an example – what is the figure/ground relationship here?
