As outlined in the case study at the end of Ch. 8 in the Handbook of Informatics for Nurses & Healthcare Professionals, take an inventory of the information systems in your organization or at an organization in which you were previously employed.
Use your own observations and conversations with staff and leaders.
Compare your list with the systems described in Ch. 8.
Take an inventory of the information systems found in your organization, and describe your experience with health information systems. How would you rate the information-technology status of your organization?
What do you consider are the positive aspects, and, what in your opinion, are the negative aspects of health information systems? What is the basis for your beliefs? What would you do to improve your information systems?
