Discussion: Everything’s An Argument

We are going to learn a lot of new vocabulary to add to our lexicon. We will read, learn, and explore a lot of important concepts, key words, and their definitions. Please write all of these down or keep a file where you keep adding all the new ones you read about and learn. In your essays, I will ask that you use this new vocabulary and write about it. Therefore, it is very important to study these new terms and keep a list of all these new words and their meanings. 

Please read  pages 79-103 in Everything’s An Argument and then answer the following questions below: 

1. What are arguments about the past called? 

2. What are arguments about the future called? 

3. What are arguments about the present called? 

4. What is Stasis Theory? 

5. Why is Audience/Readers important in writing? 

6. Define Pathos. 

7. Define Ethos. 

8. Define Logos. 

9. Define Kairos. 

10. Define the Rhetorical Situation and list all of its parts.
