Employment and/or Family Discussion Board

Option 1: Watch the following TedTalk by Sheryl Sandberg (top executive at Facebook and creator of the “lean in” phenomena).  Then answer the following questions:

1. Why don’t women “sit at the table”?

2. Why is success for men positive and for women negative?

3. Despite the gains in the workforce women have enjoyed, why hasn’t more equality and gains been made within the home (the focus here being on women with male partners)?

4. What can be done?

Option 2: Interview a woman who is at least 20 years older than you.  Ask her about the changes she has seen in relations to women, work and family during her lifetime.  How were things when she was growing up in comparison to now. Post her interview response in your main thread and add some of your own thoughts to the future for women in the U.S.
