  1. Jack Otto needs to talk to Bob. There are signs that Bob is having a hard time and although prying on other people’s personal lives is not (and should not be) part of a supervisor’s responsibility, Bob’s behavior could have a direct impact on his performance, his safety, and the safety of his co-workers. Otto can ask Bob to have a one-on-one session would him and ask him about his concerns.  Talking to an employee that is showing signs of distress is part of risk management. Mathis et al. (2017) defines it as “involves the responsibility to consider physical, human, and financial factors to protect organizational and individual interests” (p. 530).
