Week 1 Discussion Answer
DNA is the molecule responsible for heredity. It was previously thought that protein was the only molecule that encoded such complex genetic information. Microbiologists played a pivotal role in the research that determined DNA is responsible for gene inheritance from one generation to the next. They conducted various experiments used to show that DNA is the material of heredity.
