Think of a company or organization you’re familiar with, perhaps one you’ve worked for or even a place of worship or school.

  • What kind of organizational structure does the organization use?
  • What other structures discussed in the chapter might allow the organization to operate more effectively? For example, would the move to a product team structure lead to greater efficiency or effectiveness? Why or why not?

Wk 4 Discussion – Organizational Structure Answer

The organizational structure used by Texas Instrument is functional hierarchical. A functional structure is an organizational structure that is composed of all departments that an organization needs in order to produce its goods or services (Jones & George, 2020). In Texas Instrument, the organization is arranged according to functional groups such as production line, quality assurance, product designing, account executives/sales, research and development, and admin with emphasis on hierarchy.
