Class Community Gallery: Healing with the Arts
Post a picture of your completed project! Then use the following guiding questions to add to your post:
- Share with us why you chose the page that you did.
- What was your process in engaging in this assignment? How did you go about it? Did you have music or did you need complete silence? If you had music, what did you have playing and why did you choose this particular soundtrack?
- What was your thought process during this activity? How did it feel at the beginning, middle, and completion of the art piece?
- What other art medium have you engaged with in your past? Present?
- Do you have art-trauma? Have you been told that you were really good at art or really bad at art? How did this impact your current engagements with art?
- This is a low-stakes assignment – hopefully you do not feel a pressure to be “good” at art since there is not wrong way to engage with art.
- I also encourage you all to look into indigenous art, graffiti art, and other forms of arts (dance, music, theatre/performance, ceramics, knitting, sewing, etc.) as more opportunities for healing.
- Share memories of any experiences that you’ve had with the arts.
Class Community Gallery: Healing with the Arts Answer
I chose this page because I feel the vibes where a child is nervous of what a person in white coat is going to check. “Is there a syringe? Is it just literally a check-up?” Also, I chose this because I like the message and, of course, I get to color my own dragon.
