The cloning process, specifically the somatic cell nuclear transfer, mainly involves the nucleus, which contains the DNA. It begins by removing the nucleus of the egg cell and discarding it in a process called enucleation. Then, the nucleus of the somatic cell is likewise removed and transferred to the enucleated egg cell. Since a new nucleus has been substituted to the egg cell, the host cell will take some time to adjust and reprogram.
