Wk 2 Discussion – Informed Consent Answer

  • Nazi Medical Experiments
  • Heinous and unethical medical practices were observed in Europe during the Nazi regime. Sterilization, euthanasia, and medical experimentation were done to create a population of “racially pure” Germans who would rule the world. The medical experiments were carried out forcibly on prisoners of war and racial outcasts, such as Jews. The subjects being exposed to high altitudes, freezing temperatures, malaria, poisons, spotted fever (typhus), or untested drugs, as well as undergoing surgical procedures without anesthesia. These people were killed and tormented physically, mentally, and socially (Grove et al., 2015).
