Module 4 Assignment – Queer Histories

What I’d like you to do is to look through OutHistory.org (link here (Links to an external site.)), and find something that interests you, and then present it to the class. This can be a short video (think Tik-Tok) or a script from a short video (a fancy way of me saying regular discussion post). Or, I suppose, something else short and creative.

Module 4 Assignment – Queer Histories Answer

What I have chosen to present to the class is the story “The Tom-Boy Who Was Changed into a Real Boy” from the exhibit titled “Transgender Children in Antebellum America.”

This was an interesting exhibit was it presented stories that can be found in children’s books and magazines.  These stories were from a mixed bag; some simply depicted the strong line between femininity and masculinity; some stories look into the punishment of individuals who do not conform to these norms. This particular story followed a more positive perception towards transgender individuals in the Antebellum.
