Performance appraisal approaches are used to determine how the employees are engaged and motivated to work productively and effectively in their jobs. While the four approaches for performance appraisal have its own processes and results, it entails both advantages and disadvantages which are discussed below:
- Comparative Approach – compares the performance of an employee to others (Noe, Hollenback, Gerhart & Wright, 2019 p. 337)
Pros: acts as a challenge for the employees; act as a motivation to perform better
