Read: A trooper defying his state’s vaccine mandate uses his final dispatch to tell off the governor By Brittany Shammas, Yesterday at 9:14 p.m. EDT found in the Washington Post.
Write: Using one of the three classical ethical theories reviewed in chapter 2 of the Kevin Gibson textbook, write an argument supporting the position of EITHER Governor Jay Inslee’s position requiring vaccination of state employees, OR Robert LaMay, a member of the Washington State Patrol, who lost his job by failing to comply with the vaccination mandate.
W8 Kiss Answer
I strongly agree with Governor Jay Inslee’s position requiring vaccination of state employees. The mandate is in the interest of everyone and humanity as a whole. We are facing a pandemic and the way to resolve this crisis is through cooperation and collaboration. Everyone has to take part and share something, may it be in the form of sacrifices, in order to win this battle against Covid19. Requiring state employees to be vaccinated is not something that is politically grounded but justified by a greater purpose that is perceived to be rational and sound
W8 Kiss Answer
The position of Governor Jay Inslee is more reasonable. COVID-19 is arguably the wrost public health emergency in the past 50 years and people as well as government employees responding to their call of duty are dying because of it. it can be said that the governor is acting based on the virtue theory. As the leader of the state, it is his duty to pursue what is best for his people. There may be concerns about the safety and efficacy of the vaccines but such concerns have not been proven with empirical evidence.
