Betty Shadrick, the director for student diversity at the State University of New York, argued that more attention has to be given to the decline in male students in colleges. This decline, she pointed out, meant that there is a consequential gender imbalance in higher education. In other words, females are dominating college campuses. Female students have higher completion rates compared to males. Moreover, male students have more distractions that prevented them from giving their full attention to classes. Shadrick argued that this is why colleges should focus on the issues that prevent male students from completing their degrees.
