Do you agree or disagree with the following statement:

“There is an important difference between intentional and unintentional plagiarism, and all judgments about plagiarism, along with any punishments for plagiarizing, should be adjusted to account for that difference.”

Week 2 Discussion Forum: Plagiarism Answer

I firmly agree with the statement that there are distinctions between intentional or deliberate plagiarism and unintentional or accidental plagiarism and that punishment should be amenable.

Joob and Wiwanitkit (2018) mention that “plagiarism is plagiarism” (p. 151). Generally, this practice is unethical, and it cannot be tolerated at all. While this may be true, the authors should acknowledge the existence of actual unintentional plagiarisms.
