Threaded Discussion #5: On Metaphors Answer

Metaphors help us understand the world in a way that transcends the observable world. And this means that all forms of perception can be used to describe the feelings associated with the observable world. For example, metaphors are used to describe the feelings of deep love and desire in Emily Dickinson’s “Wild Nights – Wild Nights.” “Were I With Thee/ Wild nights should be!/ Our luxury” in this passage Dickinson expresses the deep exhilaration of love, passion, and desire by using the metaphor of wild nights as a “luxury.”
