Journal 2 Answer

The essay “What’s Your name, Girl?” by Maya Angelou illustrates the importance of the culture of African American individuals who are a victim of discrimination and racism. The main point of the story is to respect other people’s names regardless of their culture. Her name emphasizes the importance of African American culture. The root of a person is also a part of people’s names because it carries, historical, personal, cultural, and familial connections.
