Midterm Essay 1 Answer

Federalism is the system of government in which there are two levels of government that are independent of one another but may share some powers. During the founding years of the republic, the federal set-up was seen as the most effective compromise between ensuring that the national government would not be tyrannical like the British monarchy and that state government would not be so strong as to render the national government ineffective like what happened in the Articles of Confederation. Under this system of government, both the federal and state governments have three branches; namely: executive, legislative and judicial department.

Federalism is a system or form of government whereby powers and authority to act in behalf of the people are distributed in both the national and state level.
