- analytical listening – ability to understand what the message is not only through spoken words but also the feeling and emotion of the speaker
- counterfeit question – questions that disguise the speaker’s true motives, which do not include a genuine desire to understand the other person
- critical listening – process for understanding what is said and evaluating, judging, and forming an opinion on what you hear
- mindful listening – way of listening without judgment, criticism or interruption
