Implied Powers Answer

The Implied Powers of the Federal Government

The federal government can exercise powers other than those expressly granted to it by the Constitution. The authority granting this expanded authority of the federal government is the elastic clause or necessary and proper clause found in Article I, Section 8 of the US Constitution, specifically the last clause thereof (Krutz & Waskiewicz, 2019, p.74). Necessarily, there can be no implied power without an enumerated power because the latter provides legitimacy to the former.
