In an online article published in 2017, the author talked about a rare condition known as Non-24-Hour Sleep-Wake Disorder or simply N24. While the condition is known by other titles like free-running disorder, circadian rhythm sleep disorder, and hypernycthemeral syndrome, it all refers to a medical condition in which a patient’s biological clock fails to be coordinated with a 24-hour-a-day pattern (NORD, 2017). When this happens, the individual may experience an abnormal pattern of time perception because their biological clock is not following the normal time cycle (Pacheco, 2021).
