This is a weird module, since it includes Thanksgiving, and then we’re basically done with the semester. This is also potentially a tough module because it deals with the culture of sexual assault. I’d like to flip the topic though and have you discuss consent. Specifically, I’d like for you to share an example from popular media where you saw consent modeled in a positive way.
That’s…that’s really it. If you don’t have an example, then perhaps you can make one up that you would like to see. Let’s shoot for a medium sized paragraph for this one, so we can get to turkey (or whatever) faster.
Module 7 Assignment – Consent Culture Answer
A positive way that I have witnessed consent in popular media would be through a YouTube video from As/Is – which is formerly known as BuzzFeed. Although I am aware that BuzzFeed has made some quite controversial content in the past, they have also some astounding ones – especially the ones that point out to proper social behavior. The video that I am sharing is titled “If We Treated Things Like We Treat People During Sex — A Consent Video.” They published this back in 2014 before they renamed their company as As/Is.
