Explain one positive and one negative aspect of the lifetime term of office for judges and justices in the federal court system. Why do you believe the constitution’s framers chose lifetime terms?

One positive effect of federal judges serving for life is that they would accumulate expertise and knowledge of political, social and cultural shifts in society to inform how they decide cases. However, this is also disadvantageous because controversies affecting legally demandable and enforceable rights are decided by individuals that the people do not elect.
