Week 16 discussion Answer

Summary. What GMO’s are currently grown in the US? How were most of these GM strains created?

In the United States, only a few types of GMO crops1 are grown, but several of these GMOs account for a significant portion of the crop (e.g., soybeans, corn, sugar beets, canola, and cotton). The majority of GMO plants are used to generate ingredients that are then used in other food products, such as cornstarch or sugar made from GMO sugar beets.
