1. Compare and contrast the biosynthetic pathway with the endocytic pathway.

• In the biosynthetic pathway, proteins are synthesized in the endoplasmic reticulum, modified in the Golgi apparatus and transported to its destination. The movement is from inside to outside. For the endocytic pathway, on the other hand, the materials move from the outside to inside, towards the endosomes and lysosomes. Both processes involve cell organelles.
