Week 5 Assignment: Intervention Programs Report

Anytown needs your help to determine what intervention programs are available for opioid users.

There are no programs currently available for the residents, so swift action is necessary. Your supervisor at the Department of Health has asked you to prepare a report on an intervention program. If this report is approved, you may be tasked with a full report to submit to the director.

Use the same study from discussion prompt 1, which discusses the efficacy of a treatment program for opioid use and answer the following questions:

  1. What hypothesis was proposed? Did the researchers obtain an answer?
  2. What type of intervention was utilized?
  3. How were the participants selected?
  4. What were the modes of data collection, analysis, and interpretation?
  5. Do you think this can work in Anytown? Explain your answer.

Week 5 Assignment: Intervention Programs Report Answer

Research Hypothesis

The original research study “Long-term outcomes after randomization to buprenorphine/naloxone versus methadone in a multi-site trial” conducted by Hser et al (2016) and published in the Addiction journal of PubMed is the selected research study from the fifth week discussion and for this fifth week assignment paper. The main hypothesis of this study is that there is no significant difference between buprenorphine/naloxone and methadone in treating opioid addiction and abuse, especially in mortality rate and reduction of opioid use.
