In reading through the poems that were assigned, what appealed to me the most is the topic on coolness and how the poem We Real Cool by Gwendolyn Brooks presented the message of coolness through a lens of irony. Here, the poet points out that often the pattern of activities that individual take into account to be considered cool are the very things that make them “uncool”.
