No messing around in this class!  Let’s get in to some deep metaphysical questions right away.

Topic:

In reviewing the article “I Think, Therefore I Am

Actions

” you will need to list one section or quote from the reading that seemed really important to you–sometimes we call this a “golden line”–and explain why you think it is important.

This can be a section that helped you connect to something you learned in the course already, other concepts you’ve learned about in classes at GCC, other aspects of popular culture, an idea from a religious text…you name it!

You should also include a question that you want to ask.

Part 1:

First, list the quote (make sure to put it in “quotation marks” give the page number, and explain why you selected the quotation in a few sentences.   Remember, you want to make a connection to other course concepts or connections to other ideas you’ve read about in your analysis of the quote.

Part 2:

Then, formulate a question you have about your quotation.  In particular, try to formulate a question that you have for Descartes as it relates to his ideas of how he understands himself and attempts to prove his own existence which really starts to get discussed in paragraph 8 through the end of the reading.  It’s fine to think about how his ideas might apply to your own life or how you experience the world around you.  Applying an author’s ideas to your own experience is a great way to help you define complicated terms and ideas and make connections.
