Before Wednesday:

- Note that Trigger Warnings for this film include: racism and racial violence, hypnotism, subtle body horror, hypnotism, blood + violence.
- Next, answer the response questions below (write at least 200+ words):
- Choose one concept from Chapter 5 – “Television and Film” that interested you the most to discuss and respond to.
- UCLA professor Tananarive Due, who taught a class with Get Out as it’s centerpiece film says “Peele created a space for audiences to feel empathy for the black lead character while at the same time, helping to show what some of our anxieties are as black people living as a minority in this country.” Why is this important? What do you think this film contributes to our national discussion on race relations in the United States?
- Finally, after your response, write a thought-provoking discussion question for your group about an issue or issues brought up in our reading, Pop Culture for Beginners Chapter 5 – “Television and Film” pgs 111-134, or connected to the film. Remember: choose specific, thoughtful, and answerable questions!
