For the next video, Overview of the Citric Acid Cycle you do not need to remember the various enzymatic steps of the Krebs cycle, in which an acetyl group derived from pyruvate is oxidized all the way to CO2 and H2O. What is important for you to know is that the pyruvate derived from glycolysis diffuses from the cytoplasm (where glycolysis happens) into the mitochondria where, in the mitochondrial matrix, it is broken down to an acetyl group (which is attached to CoA, a coenzyme) and CO2. From there, the acetylCoA enters the Krebs cycle. You should note also that Acetyl CoA can also be produced by clipping acetyl groups off of fatty acids, which is how fats are burned to make ATP.
