- Post by 11:59 PM (PST) Thursday (the first week this is due on Thursday; in following weeks this is due on Wednesday.)
- In your post you may want to discuss one or more of the following:
- how the lectures help you think about the connection between spirituality and nursing;
- how the lectures may be relevant to, or may clash with, clinical obligations;
- the ways in which the lectures help you understand patients with similar religious convictions to those expressed in the lectures;
- the ways in which the lectures help you understand coworkers with similar religious convictions to those expressed in the lectures; and/or
- ideas about how the video lectures interface, either positively or negatively, with other dimensions of the course.
- one or two points that were difficult to understand or you’d like to hear more about.
- Respond to the postings of at least two other students by the following Sunday (11:59 PM).
- Responses to peers should provide the depth of information, utilize examples, apply course principles, and further the discussion.
- Responses are more than a simple “I agree”, and can present support of the other students’ work or provide alternate ways to consider the issue.
- You are invited to respond to the people who post on your original posting, however, this is NOT counted as any of your required responses to other student postings.
- This is a 15 point assignment. Review the rubric below on the Theology/Spirituality Video Reflection and Discussion Forum to ensure you are meeting assignment expectations.
Accomplished (11-15 points)
- Reflection demonstrates a high degree of critical thinking in applying, analyzing, and evaluating key elements of the video, including insightful and relevant connections between assignment, nursing practice, and ethics.
- The student also conveys strong evidence of self-assessment related to their own professional practice through inferences made, and examples are given.
- Provides a scholarly follow-up response to a peer’s initial forum response; includes in the posting a thoughtful application to nursing practice.
- The student articulates an acute awareness of the challenges and implications of this new knowledge to their practice of nursing.
Developing (6-10 points)
- Reflection demonstrates some degree of critical thinking in applying, analyzing, and evaluating key elements of the video, including some insightful and relevant connections between assignment, nursing practice, and ethics.
- Student conveys some evidence of self-assessment related to their own professional practice through inferences made, and examples are given.
- Provides a somewhat scholarly follow-up response to a peer’s initial forum response with limited application to nursing practice.
- The student articulates a limited awareness of the challenges and implications of this new knowledge to their practice of nursing.
Beginning (1-5 points)
- Reflection includes minimal critical thinking. Connections made between key elements of the video, when present, are superficial. Insights and connections between the assignment content, nursing practice, and ethics are very minimal or not present.
- Evidence of self-assessment related to the student’s own professional practice, when present, demonstrates a neutral experience with negligible personal impact. Inferences, examples, personal insights and challenges, and/or future implications to the student’s nursing practice are overlooked.
- Provides response to a peer’s initial forum but the response does not indicate a grasp of the subject matter presented in the video presentations.
