Week 1 Discussion Forum Answer

The 2009 H1N1 Influenza Virus (first referred as swine-origin influenza A virus) started with the detection of a different variant of virus never been identified from a 10-year old Californian patient through an influenza detection program. Days later, the clinical study detected the same virus on an 8 eight-year old Californian patient residing miles from the first detected patient with the new influenza virus (CDC, 2010).
