Essay On AT&T versus Peterson
Issue: Did Peterson receive justifiable action from AT&T when he was relieved from employment when he was found to have neglected to report incidents of his reckless driving issues.
Rule: The neglect to tell about driving-related incidents when an employee is in possession of a company property such as a vehicle is considered a neglect of his duty to the company as stipulated within the company rules as requirement for the whole duration of the employee’s accomplishment of his duties relating to his job.
The graduated discipline process was not in any way useful as a defense or cause for passing on of a legal case because the employee, Peterson, was released from this protection once he was to National Retail Account Representative; simply stating that he will be responsible for his own actions during the span of his being appointed into the said position.
