Essay on 66-year-old patient with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus
Your paper should be 3-4 pages in length and will be graded on how well you complete each of the above sections. You will also be graded on your use of APA style and on your application of nursing journals into the treatments and interventions. For integrating nursing journals, remember the following:
Make sure to integrate citations into all of your paper
-Support all claims of what the disease is, why it occurs and how to treat it with references to the literature on this disease
-Always use citations for information that you learned from a book or article; if you do not cite it, you are telling your reader that YOU discovered that information (how to treat the disease, etc.)
Patient P.R. is a 66-year-old Asian-American woman. She is a retired senior high school teacher. Her husband passed away two years ago due to a heart attack. The patient has two children—Kim and Lee. The patient was sent to the hospital after her daughter found her semi-conscious on the bathroom floor. According to the patient, she felt very lethargic and lightheaded after not being able to sleep well the night before. She kept on waking up every 45 minutes to go to the bathroom to urinate. She believes that it could be because of her urinary tract infection, which she had been having frequently over the last two years. The patient inquired whether UTI can be due to the yeast infection that she has had frequently at least within the last three years before her husband died. The patient’s daughter also mentioned the dramatic weight loss that she noticed with her mom from the last time she came to visit two months ago. She feared that her mother was not eating enough, which her mother denied.
